2024 Fall District Meetings

Registration for the 2024 Fall District Meetings is now open. Please join ACCG as we visit all 12 districts this year to share updates on our various services and programs in addition to timely topics like navigating county budgets during the post-COVID era and new requirements for First Responder Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Insurance.

Registration is required and is $20 per person. Anyone interested in attending must register through the county clerk or the county staff member who handles ACCG event registrations.

District Meetings Schedule

DISTRICT 1

Whitfield County

November 18 - 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.

The Emery Center

110 Dalton, Georgia 30720

Parking: Parking is available to the right of the building entrance.

Formerly known as the Emery Street School, the Emery Center serves as an African American Heritage and multicultural center with displays recognizing the role of slavery and the civil rights movement as well as a celebration of federal, state and local individuals who have impacted the local area. Plan to arrive early (doors will open at 3 p.m.) to spend some time exploring the Emery Center!

DISTRICT 2

Habersham County

November 19 - 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Habersham EMC Community Center

Parking: Parking is available in front of Habersham EMC or just through the gates on the Community Center side of the building.

Habersham EMC is a non-profit, member-owned cooperative that brings electricity to the rural areas of Habersham, Hall, White, Stephens, Rabun and Lumpkin counites. Habersham EMC works closely with local governments in its service area to promote economic development throughout its six- county service area.

DISTRICT 3

Cobb County

November 18 - 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Comcast Regional Headquarters

Parking: Park in the Red Deck parking lot. You will need to go the third floor of the parking deck to get to the security desk for the Comcast Regional Headquarters. Please check in at the security desk, and they will direct you to the conference room for the meeting.

The Comcast Regional Headquarters at One Ballpark Center overlooks the Atlanta Braves’ Truist Park. See how Comcast designed its space to promote innovation, technology and employee interaction.

DISTRICT 4

Upson County

November 22 - 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Thomaston-Upson County Civic Center

Parking: Parking is available just outside of the Civic Center.

The Thomaston-Upson County Civic Center was built to support the cultural and recreational interests of Upson County residents. It is a hub for youth sports in the county, offers special events and programming for all ages, and serves as the Emergency Shelter Center and a voting site for various elections.

DISTRICT 5

Greene County

November 13 - 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

The Preserve at Reynolds Lake Oconee

Parking: Check in at the security gate and the security guard will direct you where to park.

The newly renovated clubhouse at The Preserve at Lake Oconee overlooks a large pond and fountain on the inaugural golf course built at Reynolds Lake Oconee. Come enjoy picturesque views of the course from the wraparound porch!

DISTRICT 6

Pulaski County

November 21 - 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.

The Opera House

Parking: Parking is available on the streets surrounding The Opera House.

The Old Hawkinsville Opera House was built in 1907 by Macon architect and theatrical designer, W.R. Gunn in 1907. In 1973, the facility was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In addition to serving as a place for theater performances and traveling acts, it has also served as a movie theater and a local church as needed over the years. Today, the Opera House is still actively in use and is owned by the citizens of Hawkinsville and managed by the Hawkinsville-Pulaski Ars Council.

DISTRICT 7

Washington County

November 21 - 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

The Pringle Building

Parking: Parking is available in front of or behind the building. Additional parking is permitted across the street at the Pickle Barrell.

Join us in downtown Sandersville at The Pringle Building, which was named for Mr. Robert Pringle who served in the Georgia State Senate, was a Sandersville Mayou and was instrumental in building the city back after the Civil War. Today, this building serves as a unique, upstairs event venue on a street that was one home to cotton trading.

DISTRICT 8

Stewart County

October 30 - 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Omaha Brewing Company

Parking: Parking is available in front of the facility.

Omaha Brewing Company produces a variety of craft beers and spiked sparling seltzer, as well as wines from locally grown Noble and Carlos muscadine grapes. Following the meeting, learn more about this local brewery and its alligator mascot, Enoch, and participate in a tasting if you would like!

DISTRICT 9

Candler County

October 28 – 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Georgia Grown Innovation Center

Parking: Parking is available in the grassy area across the street from the building.

Learn more about the work of this agri-business incubator, which is a partnership between the City of Metter and five universities across the state. After lunch, participants can tour Better Fresh Farms, an on-site farm which uses recycled shipping containers and hydroponic growing systems to produce a variety of lettuces and other vegetables.

DISTRICT 10

Mitchell County

October 29 - 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Mitchell County Cooperative Extension Education Facility

Parking: Parking is available around the building in the grassy area.

The Mitchell County Extension Office works to extend lifelong learning through research-based education in agriculture, the environment, communities, youth and families. As a part of the University of Georgia’s Colleges of Agricultural & Environmental Science and Family & Consumer Sciences, Mitchell County Cooperative Extension offers program in agriculture and natural resources, 4-H youth development and family and consumer sciences.

DISTRICT 11

Coffee County

October 29 - 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

The Atrium

Parking: Parking is available in the lot next to the building.

Join us at The Atrium, a unique event facility managed by the Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce. After the meeting, take a short walk to the Heritage Station Museum located in the old Georgia and Florida Railroad Depot, which features collections highlighting the area’s military, agriculture, African American and local business history.

DISTRICT 12

Glynn County

October 28 – 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.

College of Coastal Georgia

Parking: As you approach the Campus Center, watch for signs directing you to Lots B or C. You may park in either of those lots, which is an easy walk to the Campus Center.

The College of Coastal Georgia is part of the University System of Georgia offering a broad range of bachelor’s and associate degree programs. Take the opportunity to tour the facility’s cybersecurity lab and learn how the college is working with Glynn County and other local governments to prevent cyberattacks.
